Sarrah Abdelrahman

Before the entertainment industry realizes the power of social media in building celebrities' personal brands, Sarrah was one of the few celebrities who pioneered in blogging and digital content creation to build a name for themselves. However, her earliest steps in the entertainment business did not count on it. Sarrah studied Journalism and Theater at the American University in Cairo (AUC), where she took part in several plays. Her first foray into acting was opposite superstar Ahmed Helmy in the fantasy-comedy film 1000 Mabrook. The film was a box office hit in 2009 and paved her way through the entertainment industry, where she took part in a number of comedy-TV series, like Goz Mama (2010) and Hasan Altenin (2012). She also starred in many social dramas, including Taht Al Saytara by Tamer Mohsen (2015), La Totfe' El Shams by Mohamed Shaker (2017), and Badal El Hadouta 3 (2019). At the same time, Sarrah propelled her name on social media through her personal blog, Sarrah's world. She was also the writer and host of the Salizon show that streamed on the Viu platform. She took part in three seasons of Ahmed Amin's AlPlateau show (2016-2017), which premiered with great success on TV and scored high-viewership records on YouTube. She has also been actively taking part in a number of environmental, social, and women empowerment initiatives. She made her breakthrough role in Sabe' Gar TV series (2017), a record-breaking off-Ramadan drama that achieved tremendous success. She played the role of a young girl who tries to figure out the meaning of life and build up her own future plans through reckless and impulsive decisions. Her most recent works include the second season of Leh La'a (Why Not?) TV series, where she stars opposite Menna Shalaby and Ahmed Hatem, which is airing on Shahid. The series is directed by Mariam Abou Ouf and written by Mariam Naoum. This came along with the blockbuster film El Kenz 2: Al-Hobb wa Al-Maseer (2019) by director Sherif Arafa, Sawah (2019), the first co-production between Luxembourg and Egypt, and the short film Turning Ten (2020) for which she won the Best Actress award at Masrdot Bokra Film Festival. In 2021, Sarrah was featured in the music video Met'ala' Beeky which was released during the closing ceremony of the 5th El Gouna Film Festival alongside 10 other actresses from 5 Arab countries; Youssra, Hend Sabri, Shereen Reda, Saba Mubarak, Nour, Tara Emad, Huda ElMufti, Fatima Albanawi, Mayan El Sayed, and TV presenter Raya Abirached.
