Melanie Nyema is one of Taylor Swift's vocal co-captains and backup singers, having first appeared with Swift on the 2012 MTV VMAs. Hailing from La Mirada, California, Nyema attended Southern California University and has previously worked as a backup singer for Taylor Hicks. She has also worked with Barry Manilow and Shoshana Bean.
